A fun day dedicated to one of the UK's most popular and iconic dog breeds, the Bulldog, is returning to Newark Showground on Sunday 4th June 2017 from 11am to 4pm.
Bulldog Day UK, a celebration of the seventh most popular breed in the UK, was first held in a loaned field at Spalford, and has since grown to attract hundreds of dog lovers and their four-legged friends every year.
The events offers a wealth of information and advice to owners of Bulldogs or those thinking about buying or rescuing one, including how to find a responsible breeder such as a Kennel Club Assured Breeder, information on health issues in the breed that owners should be aware of, the type of lifestyle that would suit a Bulldog and how best to care for the breed.
Included at the show are grooming demonstrations, fun dog show classes, 'have a go' handling classes to show visitors what is involved in a dog show, rescue stalls from Bulldog Rescue and Rehoming, The Edward Foundation and French Bulldog Welfare, which will provide advice and information to those interested in the Bulldog's French cousin.
Show organiser Vicky Collins-Nattrass, from Lincoln, who is the Kennel Club's Breed Health Coordinator for Bulldogs, said: "We're now in the tenth year of Bulldog Day UK and the show is growing every year. It's the perfect opportunity for dog lovers, particularly those with a fondness for Bulldogs, to come along and have a great day out.
"Over 200 dogs came along last year and we are expecting to see more this year so there are plenty of opportunities to meet the breed and chat to owners about what they are like as pets. Whether you are looking to find a responsible Bulldog breeder, are planning on rescuing a Bulldog, want information on the health of the breed or simply want to come and meet some of the dogs, the show has something for every dog lover.
Visitors to the show can bring along their own dogs as long as they are well-behaved and socialised.
Parking for the event is free and there is an entry cost of £3 for adults, £1.50 for children and £7.50 for a family ticket. All proceeds from the event go to the Bulldog Rescue and Rehoming Charitable Trust.
